For many years watercolour painting had just been a pastime. Now retired after a long Presbyterian Church ministry in Donegal and settling in the foothills of the Sperrins, I enjoy giving more time to painting.
At a Big Draw event in Coleraine a few years ago I met some fine artists, such as Ashley Coulter and Harry McMahon. With their encouragement I was introduced to Causeway Coast Artists and ffirstly North Coast, and subsequently became ‘serious’! Influenced by the Urban Sketchers movement I have majored now on Plein Air painting, Line and Wash, attempting to capture the atmosphere and moment of a scene.
It is also pleasing and challenging to take on commissions for local scenes and landscapes.
